Greetings all,
This week we had to put our wonderful basset/golden (Eddie) to sleep because of inoperable cancer. One day he's fine the next he's gone. In 1997 we put down our 14 year old Golden (Dixie) because she had Lymphoma.

After Dixie died in 1997 we changed the way we did many things, thinking that some of our actions had caused her death. We went completely organic in our yard and in 1999 moved to a rural area that never had chemicals on the land. We also switch our dogs to an all natural human grade food. I smuggly and erroneously thought that this would keep the dreaded disease from our other boys. When they said "Cancer" for Eddie I was devastated.

Look at all the posts on pet forums and think about how many of our dear fur babies are dieing of this disease. I can't believe it all boils down to the fact that they are living longer. I have to believe we are doing something wrong.

My question is.... what other changes should be made to reduce the likelihood of our fur babies succombing to cancer. My thoughts now are to look at all household cleaning products. Has anyone out there done research on what else can be the cause? Or am I just beating my head against the wall.

Thanks for any input.

I recently switched my cat Purr's food to a heathier, more natural brand. I wished I had some other good ideas, but I don't.

i had a friend who would cook her cat dinner every night. WOW!

her cat would get fresh ground chicken or turkey or fish along with some key herbs and seasonings.

what a spoiled cat... but she was very healthy!
