Feeding cats

What do your cats eat? Mine mostly cat food... but they beg for salami or meat any time I have those :)

I buy Hills prescription diet t/d and r/d cat food for my 2 cats, and then I mix it together. The t/d is for cats with dental problems, and the r/d is for cats with weight issues. One of my cats has dental issues, and both are overweight.

That's not to say they don't get treats once in a while. They both like Pounce cats treats. Purr, the tabby, is fond of creamsickles and chip dip. Blaze, the tuzedo, likes yogurt and especially tuna.

I feed my kitties Royal Canine. I also feed my dog Royal Canine. I love that brand.

One cat will turn her nose up at people food and special treats. She only eats her dry cat food.

The other cat begs constantly for anything, that is what I get for raising him in a party house during college. But his absolute favorite treat is popcorn steaming hot and fresh from the microwave. At the sound of the first kernel popping he runs to the kitchen and yowls at the microwave...

I recently started feeding my Cats Chicken Soup for The Cat Lovers Soul. They love it and refuse to eat the old store brand. They were having all kinds of problems with fur balls and just getting sick in general. Plus they acted really sluggish. I decided to go to a store called Red Bandana. they specialise in healthy cat and dog food. When I told them of my predicament, they suggested this new food. The difference in their health, energy and the way their coat shines, its like night and day. A big plus is they haven't really had a fur ball incident for over a month now.

Really? Maybe I need to try this. Purr has a problem with full balls, and nothing so far has helped.

I feed my cats "Iams", lo-calorie hairball contol food, and Hill's calorie-control hairball control. The last cat I had LOVED people food, almost EVERYTHING we ate he wanted to try, too! (When I was chomping on celery sticks, he would come up and start chewing on the other end!) I have a calico now who LOVES to eat(she would drink my red wine as a kitten!) but my other cat doesn't have such a voracious appetite, & the calico usually ends up eating her food, so I have resorted to lo-cal food to keep her weight down.
They both ADORE dried fish flakes(bonito, a kind of tuna) which is commonly used in Japanese cooking. I sometimes sprinkle it on their dried food.

Feeding the cats with only can food is harmful for then as it contains preservatives. Dry food is the same. I know a lot of cases when cats become sick because of this food - they begin experiencing problems with urination and can even die. As for me, I try to give my cat the can food rarely and feed him with meet and milk products.

My little tabby has a chronic bladder probelm, and I have taken here to the vet numerous times to treat bladder infections. There is now a special cat food(produced by Waltham) for cats with unrinary tract infection problems. I have been giving this to here for the past 4 months and she has not been going to the litter box so frequently, and seems very comfortable. The other cat I feed a special calorie control food (with furball control as well) as she has quite the voracious appetite.
