Recently we had rather strong earthquake - about 6 points. My cat didn't have a presentiment of it at all. He was sitting quietly and when the earthquake began, he was very scared and didn't know what to do. Several years ago I was keeping another cat and she was able to feel the approaching of earthquake - she began feeling nervous and then was rushing all over the apartment.
This time, after the earthquake I was not able to sleep and was communicating in chat with people from my city - they said the dogs were barking and howling like crazy before the beginning of the earthquake. |

| When the Great Hanshin earthquake of '95 hit Kobe, we felt it BIG TIME over here! I sprung out of my bed, grabbed my husband, and we held each other, huddling under the doorway on the second floor until the shaking subsided. We then went down to see if the kitty was OK, and he was huddled up, shaking! Obviously, it had scared the $hit out of him! The cats we have now seem to sleep through the quakes. Dogs are supposedly more sensitive when it comes to predicting quakes... |
