Just curious about what everyone feels about cats on countertops, tables, etc.
My cat personally is allowed on top of teh fridge and thats it, no countertops or tables allowed.
I basically dont allow him anyplace food might touch.
He does lounge on the dining room chairs, but he doesn't go up to the table.
My mom thinks I'm anal about this, so im curious if other people allow it or dont. |

I don't allow it. But that's not to say I haven't found cat hair on my kitchen counter anyway.

Gross, because I'm cooking there! I still find pawprints so I clean the surface well before I start meal preparations. We have an alcohol-based spray that I regularly use on the counters, cutting boards and sink area. (Works to kill nasty little bacteria like some that is occasionally found in ground beef, namely e-coli!)

the cat used to get on the counters all the time but after the kitchen remodel i haven't seen any evidence of her up there. that doesn't mean she hasn't though. but eversince the new cabinets and counters went in we no longer keep the counters completely spotless and the sink always clean. there's no reason for her to get up there anymore. :)

My roommie's cat doesn't care much for the counters. He loves bookshelves, though. I had a heart to heart talk with him about MY bookshelves after he threw up on my art book collection. I don't know why people say cats aren't trainable--if you nag at them enough, they'll stop doing what you hate just to shut you up!

I just read in the paper yesterday that someone's house burned down because of a fire caused by cats urinating onthe fax machine!
