| Here in Japan, we have some fabulous aquariums. Perhaps the most famous is the "Kaiyuukan" Aquarium in Tempozan, Osaka. Not only do they have whale sharks, but there are skates, stingrays, crabs and seahorses to name just a few. The tank is made of 12-inch thick plexiglass! (I believe the Japanese company that manufactured this tank also did the Monterey aquarium in California). The tank is circular and you walk up an ascending staircase which goes around the tank, thus being able to view the swimming fish at all angles. Admission is pricey(US$18 for adults) but entirely worth it! Be sure to check out the Suntory Museum next door which often has exhibits of foreign artists. |
