All the dogs the family had were mixed breed. It seemed like those with the shorter fur shed the least.

Mexican Hairless Dogs don't shed because, uh, they don't have any hair. They also look like rats, though.

Broken coated terriers have hair that grows and dies in the follicle, so it has to be pulled out with stripping knives. But they don't technically "shed" like other breeds. Only if you let it grow long enough, it will shed. Trust me on that one.

Generally, the short-coated dogs are the ones that are the easiest coat maintenance. Beagles and Bassets, Boxers, Dobes. Although all of these dogs need to be brushed regularly, at least once a week, to keep the coat fresh and the dander out of the air.
